Even after two hours, I was genuinely a bit bummed out when you two got to keep talking off the air, but the conversation was over for me!

What a buoyant and beautiful human you are, Tanner! You have worked through so many heavy things to have such strength and lightness, and I feel honored that you shared so much of your story with us. Also, your IG, which my nosy self jumped on as soon as Ashmae mentioned it at the beginning of the episode, blew me away; so much creativity and bold expression and the juxtapositions of glamour and grit and so many other “conflicting” things…so much to take in in the best way. Incredible talent and so much hard work on display. Impressive.

And Ashmae, I love love love the way you described Tanner as being so physical in his presence…that level of sheer embodiment, that physicality comes through even in photos. And that way of thinking about it is so so helpful for me in my work to be more embodied and create more safety for myself in my body and nervous system. Thank you thank you, Ashmae, for the language to think about and explore this idea, and Tanner, for, well, for embodying it!

And I agree that you are one of the wisest and most articulate people I know, Ashmae, in the most ethereally lovely way. Both of you are magical, and being allowed to listen in on this conversation felt like a gift. Thank you both for your vulnerability and your thoughtful discussion; I kept thinking about that Mary Oliver quote—which I may mangle; forgive me St. Mary—“let the soft sweet animal of your body love what it loves.” I appreciate the ways your reflections invite me to reflect on my own experiences and consider my own relationship with my body.

And the genuine affection and admiration you shared with each other was so beautiful and heartwarming to witness as well.

Thank you both for the gift of allowing me to witness pieces of your story, and for sharing your conversation and a glimpse into your friendship. Two hours well spent.

So much in here. It’s so deep it made me feel too much and I had to take a break and come back to it. Thank God you two are fucking hilarious. Your levity got me through the hard things. I empathize so deeply with these messages and I want Tanner to know that if he wants to get rich all he has to do is trademark and license his laugh. Lol. Thank you for both of your vulnerability and transparency. That’s so foreign to our former culture and you are both so brave and beautiful to share. 🙏
